Emmanuel’s Closet is a clothing ministry of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. We provide complimentary clothing to children, single parents, families, seniors and homeless men and women in the Pottstown area and beyond. Our focus is to provide quality new and gently used clothing to help families when they need it most. All are welcome to utilize this ministry – no questions are asked.
Our closet room is laid out very much like a retail establishment. Clothing is folded and placed on shelves or hung on racks, separated by type and size. We have clothing for men, women and children as well as shoes, purses and wallets. Everything is neat and orderly, giving our “clients” the feeling of shopping in a clothing store.
Since opening during the pandemic in September 2019, we serve approximately 75 people each week. Our current hours are:
~ Monday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 5:00 to 6:30 pm
~ Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
~ Friday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm
~ By appointment in the case of an emergency
At Emmanuel’s Closet our volunteers are the hands and feet of Jesus. We genuinely care about our community and have a strong desire to help others. We are always looking for new faces to help! If anyone in your organization feels the same, we would love for them to join us and help local families in need of a hand up.
Year-round needs include denim jeans, short sleeved tee shirts, sneakers, work boots, and hoodies for men women and children in all sizes. We also accept new and packaged socks and underwear for men, women and children. Monetary donations are accepted to purchase the items of which we lack. All other donations are based on season and need. Donations may be dropped off at the closet during the hours of operation listed above.
